To generate or store biogas, Flexxolutions offers various gas storage solutions such as a double-layer membrane roof or gas holder. Biogas is a sustainable alternative to the fossil fuel natural gas, created when organic material, such as food or animal waste, is broken down by micro-organisms in the absence of oxygen. This process is called anaerobic digestion. The energy in biogas can be converted into green gas, electricity and heat. It consists of about 60% methane, 30% CO2 and about 10% sulphur. For this fermentation process, the waste material is enclosed in an environment without oxygen, usually a tank or silos covered with a double-layered membrane roof, such as the Flexxodomer. Biogas obviously also needs to be stored responsibly to maintain a constant pressure and homogenise the gas. The Flexxosphere gas holder and the Flexxotank gas bag are ideally suited for this purpose.
